Hi, I'm Valerie!

A community exists in need of your business solution. But what if your community hasn't been activated yet?

Hi, it's nice to meet you. I build online communities for businesses and Kickstarters raising $1mil+.

The power of community to drive business goals inspires me every day, and I've curated a team of educators, marketing strategists, writers, and facilitators to bring excellence to the sphere of online chat-based community management. Every person's story is unique, and I would love to learn about yours!

If an activated community is part of your business goals, let's chat. My mission is to offer companies a viable alternative to paid ad channels. An activated community is a customer referral engine, and I believe in the power of this method for you and your business.

Background and Timeline

2018-2024

Crowdfunding expertise through 50+ product launch campaigns

Working in partnership with Russell Marketing, a full-service crowdfunding agency, I honed my skills on developing a community from 0 for startups within a few short weeks, in order to reach a big launch day goal. The power of an activated community inspires me beyond crowdfunding, and I am now applying the same strategies to our work at New Audience.

2017

Walked the Camino de Santiago

While transitioning away from a 9-5, I took 35 days to walk the Camino de Santiago, a 500 mile pilgrimage route across Northern Spain. This walk facilitated deep reflections on my life, purpose, friendship, and community.

2013-2016

Marketing Assistant to Coordinator at the Institute for Functional Medicine, in Santa Fe, New Mexico

My marketing training happened at a fast-growing nonprofit organization creating online learning modules and in-person conferences for physicians. I got to dive deep into Tableau data visualizations and social media advertising strategies while seeing the impact of community-first marketing for word of mouth referral and customer retention.

2008-2012

Attended St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, and Santa Fe, New Mexico

I studied philosophy and the history of math and science at a unique liberal arts college without lectures, professors, or tests. There was a deep emphasis on dialogue, collaborative learning, and writing.
